Family Gimm from Hollingstedt near Schleswig, Germany ...

In Hollingstedt a small village near Schleswig lived around 1890 a man named Hans Gimm, who had so fare we know the two sons: Hans and Friedrich (Fred). Son Friedrich, born June 21th, 1898 in Hollingstedt, went in the year 1923 to the USA. On board of the SS „Mount Clay“ he arrived at July 9th, 1923 the harbour of New York. The passenger list shows, that his destination was Dysart in Iowa, where his cousin John Cohrt waited for him.

Three years later he married Anna Margaretha Cohrt at October 16th, 1926 in Vinton, Iowa, USA.
Fred and Anna had three children: Johnnie Henry, Marie and Eleanor.

Marie Gimm later married Richard Eightmey.
Eleanor Gimm married Duane Albertsen in 1955. They had two children: Dennis Lee (born 1957) and Cindy Sue (born 1958)

Fred J. Gimm died June 10th, 1963 in La Porte, Black Hawk County, Iowa, USA. He was buried at the West View Cemetery.

That's unfortunatelly all we have about this Gimm branch from Hollingstedt.

We are very interested on each piece of information about this family, especially we need hints about the father of Fred Gimm.

- Last update: Obit Johnnie Henry Gimm (Son of Fred Gimm)
